Leoni AG Opens New Agadir Plant to Grow Commercial Vehicle Wiring Business
Leoni AG has opened a new plant in Agadir, Morocco to produce wiring systems for the truck, powertrain, and off-road segment, strategically locating the site near major commercial vehicle manufacturers. The facility supports Leoni’s goal to expand faster than the global commercial vehicle market and strengthens Morocco’s role as an automotive hub.
Agadir Plant Supports Commercial Vehicle Growth
The company invested €20 million in the Agadir facility to capture rising demand in the global commercial vehicle market and to leverage Morocco’s strong position in the automotive industry. The project will create more than 3,000 jobs, contributing significantly to the local economy and skilled employment in the region.
COO Ingo Spengler emphasized that Leoni plans to outpace market growth in the commercial vehicle segment over the coming years. He also highlighted that Leoni counts among the few global suppliers that develop and manufacture vehicle cables and wiring systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and off-road machines, giving the business a broad technology base and deep system expertise.

Advanced, Efficient, and Flexible Production
The Agadir plant will produce highly complex wiring systems in comparatively small batch sizes, allowing Leoni to serve customized and technically demanding applications in the truck and off-road sectors. The facility uses energy-efficient technologies to keep its CO2 footprint as low as possible, supporting Leoni’s sustainability and efficiency goals.
According to Spengler, the site serves as a flagship project for smart, digital, and increasingly automated processes. It showcases best practices and operational excellence that Leoni plans to roll out across its global production network, further enhancing competitiveness and quality.
