The Prysmian submarine cable expansion Finland project increases output at Prysmian Group’s submarine cable site in Kirkkonummi. The upgrade strengthens its Pikkala center of excellence and supports growing offshore wind and interconnector demand.

Finnish construction and development company YIT will enlarge four hall buildings and add a 26,000 sq m material warehouse. The partners value the project at about €35 million and expect to finish it by June 2026.

Prysmian chose YIT again after their work on the site’s cable tower project last summer. The tower reached a ridge height of 185 meters at the end of last year. The teams plan to complete it in the summer of 2025.

“We are pleased to continue our cooperation with YIT in the expansion of Prysmian’s submarine cable center of excellence and factory production capacity in Pikkala,” said Ferdinando Quartuccio, Country CEO of Prysmian Group Finland. He said this new contract naturally extends the cable tower project, which remains on time and on plan.
