According to Plant Manager Randy McClaren Jr., the project aims to increase the facility’s manufacturing capacity rather than its physical size. The Van Buren plant will enhance its ability to produce steel cores used in electrical transmission lines, a key component in strengthening national infrastructure.
Operating since 1970, the Van Buren facility previously expanded its wire stranding operations in 2021. The site also manufactures barbed wire and other steel products not included in this upgrade. This new expansion will add approximately 38 new jobs, bolstering the local economy and workforce. Bekaert also operates a separate manufacturing plant in Rogers, Arkansas.
