Herbosch-Kiere of Belgium and Enshore Subsea of the United Kingdom have joined forces to purchase a shallow-draft cable laying vessel, previously named the Topaz Installer. The vessel expands both companies’ offshore capabilities under a new partnership, Combined Marine Offshore Services (CMOS).
Strengthening Capabilities Through Herbosch-Kiere and Enshore Subsea Collaboration
With the creation of CMOS, Herbosch-Kiere and Enshore Subsea aim to enhance their services in subsea cable installation and marine infrastructure projects. The 88-meter-long vessel, built in 1999, will operate under the new name CMOS Installer and support energy and telecommunication installation projects worldwide.
This partnership marks a key milestone for both marine contractors, allowing them to jointly deliver versatile offshore solutions for renewable energy, subsea infrastructure, and cable protection systems.
The CMOS Installer, formerly owned by P&O Maritime Logistics, is currently docked in Singapore for scheduled maintenance and upgrades. Once refurbished, the vessel will sail to South Korea to collect a cable consignment before heading to Senegal for its first operational project under the new ownership.
The ship had most recently supported three offshore wind farms in Europe, highlighting its proven reliability in marine-based renewable projects. Its shallow-draft design offers excellent flexibility, enabling operations in both nearshore and offshore conditions.
Through the Herbosch-Kiere and Enshore Subsea partnership, CMOS continues to position itself as a key subsea services provider in the global renewable energy market. The acquisition reflects both companies’ commitment to advancing sustainable offshore infrastructure development and meeting growing demand for high-quality cable laying operations.
By investing in advanced assets like the CMOS Installer, the partners aim to support wind, telecom, and power transmission projects across diverse coastal environments, driving innovation within the global energy transition.
