The Leoni Aerumtec DI Mittelstand sale marks an important step in Leoni’s strategic refocus. Leoni (leoni.com) completed the sale of its Business Group Wire Products & Solutions (BG PS) to Deutsche Invest Mittelstand (DI Mittelstand) on December 13, 2023. This move now helps Leoni focus more clearly on its core cable and system solutions business.
After the transaction, the former BG PS companies now operate under the new brand Aerumtec – Copper Products and Solutions. The deal includes Leoni Draht GmbH, Haarländer GmbH, Leoni Temco Ltd., and Leoni Wire (Changzhou) Co., Ltd. Leoni Draht GmbH, with plants in Weissenburg and Bad Kötzting, now trades as Aerumtec GmbH and continues to serve customers worldwide.
Aerumtec GmbH produces wire, strand, and rope made from copper and Leoni Histral® alloys, in both bare and plated versions. In addition, the plants manufacture composite materials for demanding industrial applications. As a result, customers benefit from a focused and specialized copper product offering.
DI Mittelstand, founded in 2007 and based in Hamburg, Germany, invests in medium-sized industrial businesses with attractive growth potential. Under its ownership, Aerumtec – Copper Products and Solutions can pursue new markets, expand its capabilities, and strengthen its position in the copper products segment. In this way, the Leoni Aerumtec DI Mittelstand sale supports growth for both the new Aerumtec brand and Leoni’s streamlined core operations.
