Taihan Expands Global Reach With New Cable Deals
Taihan Cable & Solution (taihan.com) has strengthened its global position with two new projects. The Taihan TenneT Yeonggwang Nakwol contracts cover high-voltage underground cables in Germany and subsea cables for an offshore wind farm in South Korea. These wins support Taihan’s long-term growth strategy.
EHV Cable Contract With TenneT in Germany
Taihan secured a contract worth about US$45 million from TenneT, a leading European transmission system operator. The project uses 380 kV underground extra-high-voltage (EHV) cables to expand Germany’s power transmission network.
Under this agreement, Taihan:
-
Supplies EHV cables and accessories
-
Designs the power network
-
Handles cable laying, connection, and testing
This work further strengthens Taihan’s turnkey capabilities in Europe. Previously, the company won two German high-voltage cable projects with a combined value of about US$52.4 million, so this new contract builds on proven experience.
Subsea Cable Contract for Yeonggwang Nakwol Offshore Wind Farm
In addition, Taihan won a US$75 million contract to supply subsea cables for the 365 MW Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind farm in South Korea. This project adds another flagship reference to Taihan’s offshore wind portfolio.
Media reports note that the scope includes:
-
Inter-array subsea cables that connect 64 offshore wind turbines
-
Subsea cables that link the turbines to a new substation on Songi Island
Taihan will manufacture these cables at its Dangjin plant in South Korea. The company also served as a preferred subsea cable supplier for the 532 MW Anma offshore wind project, which further demonstrates its offshore capability.
Boosting Subsea Supply and Export Potential
Taihan views the Yeonggwang Nakwol project as a strategic platform. With this project, the company aims to stabilize the subsea cable supply chain in Korea by actively joining multiple offshore wind developments. It also plans to use this success as a stepping stone into the expanding offshore wind markets in Europe and the United States.
Through the Taihan TenneT Yeonggwang Nakwol contracts, Taihan continues to grow as a leading provider of EHV and subsea cable solutions for both onshore and offshore energy projects.
