Prysmian Signs Major Clean Path New York Agreement

Prysmian Group has signed a $952.8 million agreement with Clean Path New York to supply and install advanced power cable systems. This project will become one of the largest renewable energy transmission developments in the United States.

Expanding Clean Energy Across New York

The Clean Path New York initiative represents an $11 billion renewable investment. It combines 3,800 MW of wind and solar power from more than 20 generation sites with a 175-mile underground and submarine transmission link. Together, these components will deliver 7.5 million megawatt-hours of clean energy each year—enough to power 1.5 million homes.

This massive project supports New York’s vision to achieve 70% renewable electricity by 2030. It will also improve grid stability, reduce emissions, and expand access to reliable green energy for millions of residents.

Prysmian Leads Transmission Development

Under this agreement, Prysmian will design, manufacture, and install a 400 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) single-core cable system with XLPE insulation. The company will manage the entire process—from construction to commissioning—once Clean Path New York issues its notice to proceed in Spring 2024.

“We are proud to help New York reach its renewable goals,” said Hakan Ozmen, EVP Projects Business Unit at Prysmian Group. “Clean Path New York is not just a large-scale infrastructure project—it’s a milestone in the North American energy transition.”

A Partnership Driving Progress

The project is a public-private collaboration between InvenergyenergyRe, and the New York Power Authority (NYPA). These partners aim to modernize New York’s power grid with state-of-the-art transmission systems while supporting local renewable generation.

Ozmen noted that this marks one of Prysmian’s first 400 kV HVDC interconnectors in the world. “The agreement strengthens our leadership in both submarine and land cable technologies,” he added. “It highlights Prysmian’s dedication to building sustainable, forward-looking infrastructure.”

Powering New York’s Future

When complete, Clean Path New York will deliver steady, emissions-free electricity to the state’s most populated areas. The project aligns government goals, renewable investment, and technological innovation to create a model for clean energy transmission nationwide.
