The Belden Syracuse Expansion received a major boost as New York Governor Kathy Hochul visited the company’s Belden Inc. plant in Syracuse, New York to announce $2.4 million in incentives and tax credits. The investment supports Belden’s plan to expand optical fiber production, create new jobs, and strengthen New York’s broadband infrastructure.

The Syracuse facility serves as Belden’s main Broadband Solutions site, operating under the PPC Broadband brand. During her visit, Governor Hochul spotlighted major funding initiatives featured in her 2024 New York State Budget and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to high-tech manufacturing and workforce development.

Belden will receive a $1.2 million grant from Empire State Development and a $1.2 million Excelsior Jobs tax credit. Together, these incentives will help the company increase optical fiber output, support infrastructure projects, and expand employment opportunities in the region.

“New York’s story is one of transformation and reinvention,” Governor Hochul said, praising Belden’s leadership in advanced manufacturing. She also highlighted the company’s role in driving both local and global innovation.

Dr. Ashish Chand, Belden President and CEO, welcomed the Governor’s message. “We are honored to host Governor Hochul at our Syracuse facility,” he said. “Her vision of progress mirrors Belden’s commitment to ingenuity and innovation across our operations in New York and around the world.”

Belden was among 19 companies statewide to receive part of a $15 million investment through the Regional Economic Development Council Initiative. The program encourages collaboration between private industry and government agencies to strengthen local economies and create sustainable jobs.

Furthermore, Belden’s continued growth in New York demonstrates its long-term investment in local talent and next-generation broadband technology. As a result, the company’s expansion will help accelerate connectivity improvements throughout upstate communities.
