Premix Group, based in Finland, produces electrically conductive plastics and now operates the Premix Group U.S. manufacturing facility at Apple Creek in Dallas, North Carolina. Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded $79 million to support this new site.

The U.S. government selected Premix because its conductive plastics meet strict technical standards for critical diagnostic applications. During Covid-19, U.S. capacity for these specialized compounds fell short, especially for high-volume testing. Many American producers make general-purpose polymers, but few match the exact grades, quality, and scale needed for sensitive parts like pipette tips.

By working with a proven European-origin supplier that now manufactures in the U.S., the government improves technology transfer and reduces risk. The Premix Group U.S. manufacturing facility also strengthens supply chain resilience for essential health infrastructure. Construction started in 2022, and the Apple Creek plant now produces advanced PE- and PP-based conductive compounds and concentrates for demanding medical and industrial uses.
