Hellenic Cables and Seaway7 Partner for East Anglia THREE Wind Farm

Hellenic Cables signed a contract with Seaway7 for the East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm, developed by ScottishPower Renewables (SPR). The project strengthens Europe’s renewable energy network and marks another milestone in the transition toward clean energy.

Hellenic Cables Seaway7 East Anglia THREE Contract Details

Under this agreement, Hellenic Cables will design, manufacture, test, and supply around 275 km of 66 kV three-core inter-array submarine cables with matching accessories. Production will begin in 2024 at the company’s Corinth factory in Greece.

When fully operational in 2026, East Anglia THREE will stand among the largest offshore wind farms in the world. It will play a central role in boosting the UK’s renewable energy capacity.

“We are proud to contribute to the UK’s green transition,” said Konstantinos Savvakis, General Manager of Hellenic Cables. “This partnership supports sustainability while showcasing our technical expertise.”

Offshore Wind Powering Millions of Homes

The wind farm sits 69 km northeast of Suffolk’s coast and will host 95 turbines of 14.7 MW each. Together, they will generate 1,400 MW, enough to power over 1.3 million UK homes with clean electricity.

Earlier, ScottishPower Renewables selected NKT to deliver a 320 kV HVDC export cable system under a deal worth more than €250 million. The turnkey project includes the system’s design, production, and installation.

Building on Experience and Efficiency

East Anglia THREE will follow the same cable route used for East Anglia ONE, reducing environmental disturbance and improving efficiency.

“At ScottishPower, we’re determined to generate more homegrown renewable energy,” said Ross Ovens, Managing Director for the East Anglia Hub. “This project represents a major step forward.”

A Leader in Submarine Cable Manufacturing

Hellenic Cables operates several production sites in GreeceRomania, and Bulgaria, including two of the world’s most advanced submarine cable units located in Corinth and Thiva.

The Corinth plant, equipped for large-scale offshore projects, will handle the cable production for East Anglia THREE and continue supporting future European wind initiatives.
