Iowa Spring Strengthens National Manufacturing Network

Iowa Spring has expanded its U.S. operations after acquiring Northeast Spring of Reading, Pennsylvania. The family‑owned company has served customers for over 25 years, producing custom‑made springs known for their precision and reliability.

A Strategic Move for Growth

The deal closed on September 15, marking another key milestone in Iowa Spring’s growth. The acquisition helps the company build its presence as a top supplier of precision‑made springs for the overhead door, construction, agriculture, and recreational equipment industries.

“We’re proud to continue Northeast Spring’s legacy,” said Tim Bianco, President and CEO of Iowa Spring. “Their reputation for quality and service perfectly matches our values and long‑term vision.”

Operations Continue Under the Same Team

Northeast Spring will keep its name and leadership team in place. Founder John O’Leary will remain with the company for at least three years to support a smooth transition.

The business operates from two locations: its headquarters in Reading, Pennsylvania, and its production site in Villa Rica, Georgia. It mainly serves the overhead door industry, manufacturing springs from .080 to .625‑inch wire diameters. Materials include 302/304 stainless steel, music wire, chrome silicon, oil‑tempered, and hard‑drawn wire.

Shared Vision and Company Values

“With so many spring companies being absorbed by large investment firms, I wanted a buyer who believes in family values,” said O’Leary. “Iowa Spring fits that model perfectly. They value people and quality just as we always have.”

Expanding the Iowa Spring Family

Tim Bianco will now oversee Northeast Spring’s operations along with Iowa Spring’s other facilities. Those include the original Iowa Spring location, its 55,000‑square‑foot expansion facility, and its sister company, Southern Atlantic Spring, based in Granite Quarry, North Carolina.

Together, these facilities increase the company’s production capacity, expand its technical reach, and strengthen its customer‑focused service approach. With shared goals and complementary expertise, the combined team is well‑positioned for continued success.
