Lake Cable Opens New Valparaiso Expansion

Lake Cable, a fourth-generation U.S. wire and cable manufacturer, officially opened its newest expansion on October 16—a 180,000-square-foot facility in Valparaiso, Indiana. The new building, formerly owned by bearings producer Regal Beloit, sits adjacent to Lake Cable’s existing Evans Avenue plant.

Commitment to Community and Growth

“Lake Cable is proud to be part of the Valparaiso community,” said Bill Runzel, CEO of Lake Cable, during the grand opening ceremony alongside city, state, and local leaders. He added that the new facility allows the company to continue growing its successful industrial power insulated cable business.

Since launching the Valparaiso operation in 2013, Lake Cable has expanded to 368,000 square feet under roof and employs nearly 200 local team members. In just the last two years, the company has invested over $7.5 million in new production equipment. Over the next few years, Lake Cable plans to add new manufacturing lines and create more jobs for Valparaiso residents.

Facility Expansion Strengthens Operations

The Regal Beloit building had long been on Lake Cable’s radar. When it recently became available, the company saw the opportunity to enhance capacity and efficiency. The site’s excellent condition and convenient location made it an ideal addition to support Lake Cable’s ongoing expansion strategy.

Leading the U.S. Cable Manufacturing Industry

Founded in 1995, Lake Cable employs more than 620 people across five locations in Indiana and Illinois. The company designs and produces UL-listed low-voltage electronicindustrialutilitycustom OEM, and broadcast-quality cables. Its products serve a variety of industries that demand reliability and performance from their electrical systems.

Strong Values and Community Impact

Beyond manufacturing success, Lake Cable actively supports charitable causes and local events. The company contributes to organizations such as MS Societypediatric cancer foundations, and Veterans Airlift Command. It also sponsors events like the Runzel Brothers Spring Shoot and MuckFest MS Chicago, reflecting its deep commitment to giving back to the community it serves.

By combining family-driven leadership, advanced technology, and community values, Lake Cable continues to power growth across the Midwest while maintaining a strong local presence in Valparaiso.
