LS Eco Energy, a subsidiary of LS Cable & System, has secured safety certification for its underground residential distribution (URD) power cables from UL, the leading U.S. safety certification organization. This milestone strengthens the company’s position in the global energy solutions market.
Following the UL certification, LS Eco Energy plans to expand its U.S. export portfolio beyond its existing lineup of LAN (UTP) cables. CEO Lee Sung-ho expressed confidence in this step, emphasizing how the certification enhances the company’s competitiveness and visibility in the U.S. and global power cable sectors.
In partnership with LS Cable America, LS Eco Energy aims to intensify marketing efforts focused on power plant construction firms and utility authorities. This strategy will help the company accelerate its entry into key U.S. market segments.
The certified URD power cables play a vital role in distribution networks, particularly those connecting solar power plants and data centers (IDCs)—two rapidly expanding industries in the U.S. The recent increase in American tariffs on Chinese aluminum has also fueled higher demand for aluminum conductor URD cables from non-Chinese suppliers like LS Eco Energy.
Thanks to U.S. policies limiting Chinese imports, the company’s LAN cables manufactured by its Ho Chi Minh subsidiary (LSCV) have experienced over 30% growth in exports to the United States during the first half of this year, compared with the same period last year.
With its advanced manufacturing capabilities and strong global presence, LS Eco Energy continues to drive innovation and sustainability in the electrical distribution industry.
