South Korea’s LS Cable & System (LS C&S) is evaluating plans for an optical cable manufacturing plant in Turkmenistan. This possible investment supports Turkmenistan’s push to expand modern telecom networks.

LS C&S representatives held online talks with the Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency, which manages telecom contracts and infrastructure. They discussed optical cable supply and, additionally, potential local production in Turkmenistan.

They also reviewed fiber needs for the smart city of Arkadag, which will use advanced digital and green technologies.

The parties agreed to stay in close contact and consider signing a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize future cooperation. In addition, they discussed arranging a visit by a Turkmen delegation to an LS C&S optical cable plant in South Korea.

A prior online meeting in September 2023 helped lay the groundwork for these latest negotiations and defined shared objectives.

The negotiation team included sales and production representatives from LS C&S who focus on optical cable solutions. On the Turkmen side, the deputy chairman and the head of the infrastructure development group of the Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency joined the talks.

The meeting took place via video conference, which allowed both sides to advance discussions efficiently and systematically.
