Mueller Industries Expands Its Electrical Portfolio
The Mueller Industries acquisition of Nehring Electrical Works Company marks a major step in the company’s growth strategy. Mueller Industries, Inc. has agreed to acquire Nehring and several of its affiliated firms for approximately US$575 million, pending standard purchase price adjustments. This strategic move expands Mueller’s position in the wire and cable manufacturing sector and strengthens its role in power and utility markets.
Nehring: Over a Century of American Manufacturing
Based in DeKalb, Illinois, Nehring Electrical Works produces wire and cable solutions for the utility, telecom, OEM, and electrical distribution industries. The company operates three main business units — Nehring Electrical Works Company, Conex Cable, LLC, and Unified Wire & Cable, Inc.
Nehring serves utilities, municipalities, telecom providers, and electrical distributors across the U.S. In its most recent fiscal year, it reported approximately US$400 million in net sales.
A Legacy Built on Innovation
Nehring is one of the few U.S. companies that manufactures both copper and aluminum conductors. Founded in 1912 by Paul A. Nehring, the company introduced several innovations in wire production.
