Nexans (https://www.nexans.com) and American Electric Power (AEP) (https://www.aep.com) made a strategic minority investment in French AI start‑up Sensewaves (https://www.sensewaves.io). The partnership supports Sensewaves’ growth and advances AI‑powered grid digitalization for utilities worldwide.
Founded in 2015, Sensewaves focuses on AI analytics for power grids through its Adaptix.Grid platform. Adaptix.Grid unifies data from different utility systems and provides real‑time visibility across low‑ and medium‑voltage networks, even with incomplete or uneven data. The platform supports optimization from planning through real‑time operations and maintenance.
The new funding helps Sensewaves grow faster, speed up Adaptix.Grid deployments, and expand into new markets. The investment strengthens R&D, product development, and business teams so Sensewaves can deliver AI‑based grid solutions in more regions. Utilities gain a full‑service solution to modernize networks, integrate renewables, and support electric vehicle infrastructure.
Sensewaves CEO Fivos Maniatakos highlights Nexans’ strength in cables and turnkey systems and AEP’s experience as a grid operator. He states that the collaboration positions Sensewaves as a strong provider of smart, scalable grid management solutions for utilities in the energy transition.
