Nexans reports a major achievement at its Halden plant in Norway, marking a new Nexans Halden plant record. The cable-laying vessel Nexans Aurora departed carrying 9,731 tons of subsea cable, the largest load in the company’s history. This milestone surpasses the previous 2023 Oseberg Project record by 256 tons.

“This record is a new benchmark for both Nexans Aurora and the Halden facility,” the company stated. The plant has supplied large-scale cable solutions since 1976, starting with its first delivery to Nexans Skagerrak.

Halden’s expanded high-voltage subsea cable facility, completed in early 2024, made the record possible. The upgrade more than doubled cable production capacity for both HVDC and HVAC cables. The plant now employs about 1,000 people. It also features Norway’s tallest building—its second extrusion tower—allowing insulation of four cables at once.

This latest Nexans Halden plant record showcases Halden’s central role in Nexans’ global operations. The facility supports key offshore windinterconnector, and electrification projects worldwide. These efforts reinforce Nexans’ position as a leader in sustainable and clean energy infrastructure.
