Nexans Secures Long-Term Cable Repair Deal with Equinor

Nexans signed a four-year turnkey contract with Norwegian energy major Equinor to deliver repair services for a wide range of subsea cable systems. The agreement further strengthens Nexans’ role as a key partner for reliable offshore energy infrastructure.

Under the contract, Nexans provides its specialized repair expertise for all types of existing subsea cables. The scope also includes a dedicated intervention vessel and a team of Nexans subsea cable experts who can respond quickly whenever Equinor or other pool members need support.

Supporting PRSI Pool Members and Offshore Assets

Equinor manages and operates the agreement on behalf of the Pipeline Repair and Subsea Intervention (PRSI) Pool. The PRSI Pool brings together 23 energy companies that share offshore pipeline and power cable repair contingency through this cooperative framework.

At this stage, the contract covers about 3,000 km of subsea cable, and the parties can broaden the scope later. This structure supports long-term asset integrity, reduces downtime, and lowers risk across the offshore networks of PRSI Pool members.

Turnkey Repair Expertise Across Multiple Cable Types

To keep Equinor’s offshore assets running smoothly, Nexans delivers complex turnkey repair services for several cable technologies, including XLPE, mass impregnated, and oil-filled cables. The company draws on extensive field experience in demanding subsea environments.

When a cable system fails, Nexans mobilizes highly skilled teams and specialized vessels to locate the fault, install replacement cable sections, and complete all needed repairs. As a result, operators can restore power and communications more quickly and improve the overall reliability of critical subsea infrastructure.
