Prysmian Group Secures $952.8 Million Clean Path New York Contract
Prysmian Group has signed a $952.8 million agreement with Clean Path New York to deliver advanced submarine and land-based cable systems. The collaboration supports one of the largest renewable transmission projects ever built in the United States.
Powering New York’s Clean Energy Goals
The Clean Path New York project represents an $11 billion renewable energy investment. It combines more than 3,800 MW of solar and wind power from over 20 new generation resources. In addition, a 175-mile underground and submarine transmission line will deliver clean power across the state.
Together, these systems will provide 7.5 million megawatt-hours of emissions-free electricity each year—enough to power 1.5 million homes. As a result, the project plays a key role in helping New York transition toward a lower-carbon future.
Collaboration That Drives Innovation
Clean Path New York brings together Invenergy, energyRe, and the New York Power Authority. This public-private partnership aims to strengthen the state’s grid and help achieve New York’s target of 70% renewable electricity by 2030.
Under the contract, Prysmian will design, manufacture, construct, install, and commission a 400 kV HVDC single-core cable system with XLPE insulation. Work will begin once Clean Path New York issues its “notice to proceed,” expected in Spring 2024.
Reinforcing Prysmian’s Industry Leadership
“We are proud to support Clean Path New York in reaching its climate ambitions,” said Hakan Ozmen, Executive Vice President, Projects Business Unit at Prysmian Group. “This is not only one of the largest power transmission projects in New York but also among the first 400 kV HVDC interconnectors we are delivering worldwide.”
According to Ozmen, the contract enhances Prysmian’s reputation as a leader in both submarine and land cable markets. Moreover, it highlights the company’s growing role in North America’s clean energy transition.
