Intertranscom Impex Acquires Dan Steel Group Beclean Assets for €7.5 Million
Intertranscom Impex, a leading Romanian producer of welded mesh based in Buhuși, has acquired the assets of Dan Steel Group Beclean for €7.5 million in a public auction. The acquisition strengthens Intertranscom Impex’s position in Eastern Europe’s steel manufacturing market as the company prepares to revive production operations.
Expanding Industrial Capabilities Through the Intertranscom Impex Dan Steel Group Acquisition
According to a report from Romania-Insider.com, Dan Steel Group Beclean (Dan Steel) produced a wide range of ferrous metal products, including nails, galvanized wire, braided wire, welded mesh, and steel panels. The company exported to multiple regional markets such as Hungary, Poland, Serbia, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia before declaring bankruptcy in early 2023.
Founded in 1991, Dan Steel grew rapidly in Romania’s steel sector but began struggling in 2017 due to liquidity issues. Furthermore, new European Commission import measures imposed in 2018 increased raw material costs and added financial pressure that hindered its recovery.
Intertranscom Impex Plans to Restart Production
With this acquisition, Intertranscom Impex plans to restart steel production soon and revitalize operations at the Beclean site. The move is expected to restore the plant as a major employer in the region, signaling renewed growth and local economic support.
Dan Steel’s facilities boast an impressive industrial footprint, including 40 hectares of land, buildings covering 75,500 square meters, and essential manufacturing equipment. Once fully operational, the company aims to reach an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of finished steel products.
Strengthening Romania’s Steel Production Network
The Intertranscom Impex Dan Steel Group acquisition not only expands the company’s capacity but also enhances its long-term competitiveness in regional and international markets. By leveraging local experience and existing infrastructure, Intertranscom Impex aims to modernize production and align operations with European sustainability and efficiency standards.
This deal marks an important step toward revitalizing Romania’s steel industry, ensuring continuity in skilled jobs, and creating a stronger foundation for growth in the country’s industrial sector.
