Wardwell Strengthens Global Reach with Cobra Braiding Machinery Acquisition
Wardwell Braiding Company announced that it has acquired Cobra Braiding Machinery and the assets of the U.K.-based business. This move unites two respected names in the braiding industry, enhancing capabilities for wire and cable harness production worldwide.
Expanding Wardwell’s Global Braiding Portfolio
Founded in 1981, Cobra Braiding Machinery is a fourth-generation family-operated manufacturer known for its high-performance wire harness and cable harness braiding machines. The company has earned a strong global reputation, serving markets such as heavy vehicles, agriculture, construction, mining, defense, marine, and aerospace.
Cobra exports almost all of its machinery to regions including the United States, Mexico, Europe, China, Japan, and Australia. Its industry-leading models, including the Cobra 450, will now become part of Wardwell’s product portfolio.
Synergy Between Wardwell and Cobra
“Wardwell and Cobra have been friendly competitors in the global wire and cable harnessing market for years,” said John Tomaz, Vice President of Wardwell. “When this opportunity arose, it was a perfect fit for our business and for our customers. We greatly respect the Cobra line and Managing Director, Neil Hyde.”
Hyde, who will continue as General Manager for a transition period, sees the partnership as a natural evolution. “Joining Wardwell gives us the confidence that our customers will continue receiving the same performance, service, and support they’ve come to expect from Cobra,” he said.
Strengthening the Wilms Group Network
Wardwell operates under the umbrella of Wilms Group, a German industrial group that includes leading wire and cable equipment manufacturers such as SKET, Henrich, and Spirka-Schnellflechter. The acquisition strengthens this international network and expands its combined offering to the global wire and cable market.
Driving Growth Through the Wardwell Cobra Braiding Machinery Acquisition
Tomaz added that integrating the Cobra line with Wardwell’s portfolio will create powerful synergies. “Together, these product lines allow us to reach new markets and customers,” he said. “This step strengthens Wardwell’s position as a worldwide leader in wire harness and braiding machinery.”
