The Wire & Cable Manufacturers’ Alliance, Inc. (WCMA) (wcmainc.org) welcomed more than 130 members and guests to its 2023 annual membership meeting on November 30 at the Downtown Hartford Marriott in Hartford, Connecticut. The event combined governance, industry insights, and networking with a strong focus on leadership and future talent.

Economic Insights and Industry Outlook
During the luncheon, frequent WCMA contributor John S. Traynor, Executive Vice President of Cambridge Trust, delivered an update on key economic, political, and manufacturing trends. Attendees appreciated his practical insights, which helped frame current conditions and expectations for the wire and cable sector heading into 2024.
Young Professionals Panel: Why Wire & Cable
WCMA also hosted its inaugural Young Professional Panel Discussion, which attracted more than 60 participants. Panelists David Fisher, President of James Monroe Wire & Cable, and Adam Chase, President & CEO of Chase Corp., discussed “Why Wire & Cable – A Rewarding Career Choice.”
Charles Glew, President of Cable Components Group and Chairman of the WCMA Young Professionals group, moderated the session. The discussion highlighted career paths, industry opportunities, and the importance of attracting new talent to the wire and cable industry.
WCMA Charitable Giving and Community Impact
Executive Director Ed Fenton reported that WCMA donated $19,300 to charities in 2023. Beneficiaries included UCONN Cancer Research, Toys for Tots, industry scholarship programs, and several other organizations such as Breast Cancer charities, the American Red Cross, UNICEF, Wounded Warriors, and others. WCMA makes these donations annually in honor of its Distinguished Career Award recipients, reinforcing the Alliance’s commitment to community and industry support.
