Sumitomo Corporation has joined a consortium developing the 8,100 km I AM Cable, a 320 Tbps submarine system connecting Japan with Southeast Asia. The project will support cloud and carrier traffic, position Japan as a regional data hub, and enter service in fiscal 2029.
