U.K. clockwinder continues long-time tradition, calls for it not to be forgotten

Oct. 2 Points Meeting for Wire Expo sees 62% of available floor space assigned

Wire Expo 2026 is off to a strong start after the Oct. 2 Points Meeting at WAI headquarters, where 91 companies secured 111 of 179 available exhibit units for the May 6-7 show at Milwaukee’s Baird Center. Remaining booths, including potential converted spaces, will be sold first-come, first-served, with added draw from co-location with the Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo
WAI issues call for 2026 WAI Scholar; Jan. 1 is deadline for unique opportunity

WAI is accepting applications for the 2026 Wire Link Traveling Scholarship, which sends a wire professional from the U.S. to England to observe companies and attend the wire Düsseldorf show in Germany, April 13-17, 2026. Applicants must have worked in wire and cable for at least two years and submit an essay by Jan. 1, 2026, explaining how the experience would benefit themselves and their company. All travel expenses are sponsored except time away from work and travel to the airport. The program alternates annually with the U.K. and is co-sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers alias Wire Workers of England. Full guidelines and contact details are at wirenet.org.
WAI’s Paper Awards Committee issues a call for volunteers to rate presentations

WAI’s Paper Awards Committee seeks veteran volunteers in 2025 to rate technical presentations from Interwire, the Global Continuous Casting Forum, and the Wire & Cable Kraków Conference, offering members a chance to review research, support education, and engage globally. Southeast Chapter golf event a return to better times

The Southeast Chapter golf tournament on October 16 at Rock Barn Country Club & Spa in Conover, North Carolina, saw 115 golfers compete in perfect weather. With multiple close ties and skill contests, the event finished with a dinner and raffle, highlighting the community’s strong comeback after Covid disruptions.
